The night of spiritual bliss, the Night of Destiny, Night of Power, Night of Value, the Night of Decree or Night of Measures and so on.
The munificence of the Creator is revealed in Sura Qadr in the Holy Qur'an when Allah enlightens us:
"We have indeed revealed this (message) in the Night of Power. And what will explain to thee what the Night of Power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand nights."
The import of Lailatul Qadr is thus made obvious to us. On this night, the Holy Qur'an was revealed as a guide to men and women, indeed to civilisation, as they passed through the quotidian demands of life and, on a higher plane, through a world of spirituality in search of the divine.
Lailatul Qadr is a reminder of what the soul must consistently stay glued to and of what the heart must never lose sight of even as we try balancing the worldly with the divine.
For Islam is a faith which bases itself on reality, on the principle that temporal life is as much of significance as that which must follow it in the world beyond the one we inhabit.
And yet in this pursuit of the temporal there must be, constantly and insistently, the consciousness that how we conduct ourselves on earth is the basis on which our actions will be judged in the hereafter.
On Lailatul Qadr, then, we seize the opportunity to reflect on ourselves, on whether we have measured up to the expectations of the Almighty as they were made known to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
It is a night indeed of power, of the awesome majesty of Creation. Within the luminosity of this night is captured the meaning of the holy month of Ramadan, of the necessity of distinguishing right from wrong.
On this night comes to us the bounty of Allah's blessings. We go back to the Qur'an, to the divinity it highlights through its many suras or verses, in order to understand God and then to understand ourselves.
The Qur'an speaks to the soul of man. It reminds him of the darkness that was and of the light that necessarily came to be with the revelation of the divine message. The grandeur of Allah touches us on this night.
So,
let's grab the opportunities together ^____^
